Return Rejected But No Amend Option

This link https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-return/help/how-do-i-amend-my-2021-return/00/2544441

says that I can click Tax Home then scroll to the bottom to 2021 returns and I should see Amend using TurboTax Online, however this option is not there for my 2021 return that was rejected.

It is there for my 2020 return however. Does this take some time to appear for 2021 rejected return? or am I doing something wrong?

I need to change the healthcare coverage months for year 2021 because I checked only two months when actually I was covered the full year. Because of this my return was rejected for not having a 1095-A which I shouldn't need because I have a 1095-B for the whole year I was covered.

Please advise.

Thanks

You do not amend a rejected return.   Stay away from any button that says "amend."   Amending is s special process you only use if the return was submitted with mistakes and has been fully processed by the IRS.   If it was rejected the IRS has not even laid eyes on it.   You can correct your mistakes and re-file it.   You might need to click on Add a State so that you can get back in to make those corrections.  You do not really have to add a state, but that will let you back in to make changes.

If your return is rejected, it is still open on TurboTax.  No amendment available because the original not filed yet.

You can go back into your TurboTax account the select Fix rejects then it will take you to the area in question.  Make the corrections then select File.

Thanks I never would have thought to add another state.

So I did that and I was able to redo the medical information again, but when I e-file'd again it's still rejecting for the same reason of

Description of error:
The e-File database indicates that Form 8962 or a binary attachment with description containing "ACA Explanation" must be present in the return.
What needs to be done:
This return rejected due to Form 8962 Premium Tax Credit missing from the return. In order to complete Form 8962, you should have received Form 1095-A Health Insurance Marketplace Statement with relevant information on the insurance that you purchased in the marketplace. The ACA Marketplace providers have until 1/31/22 provide the 1095-A to taxpayers. For more information visit https://www.irs.gov/affordable-care-act/individuals-and-families/health-insurance-marketplace-statements.

which I don't believe applies to Medical because I recieved a 1095-B and was covered the whole year. This is the same error I had before when I only selected I was covered for a few months by covered california.

Do you suggest that I delete the state and add the state again?

Before you delete the state and add the state, you need to remove some forms.

You're getting the error because you may have inadvertently entered that you have a government (ACA) plan so TurboTax is asking for form 1095-A. If you don't have a government plan, you don't enter 1095-B on your tax return. It's for informational purposes.

Keep it with your tax documents.

To remove the 1095-A question, you'll need to delete the 1095-A form and form 8962.

  • If you're using TurboTax Online software and need to delete a form, click here.
  • If you're using TurboTax CD\Download software and need to delete a form, click here

Once you delete the forms, go back through the health insurance section of TurboTax. Please follow these steps:

  1. Type health insurance in the search box and click on Jump to health insurance.
  2. Continue with the onscreen interview.
  3. When you get to the Did you receive Form 1095-A for your health insurance plan? screen, select No, I didn't receive Form 1095-A and Continue.
  4. Continue with the onscreen interview until complete.
