Remove a state return from an individual return not from all returns

I file multiple returns & I accidentally clicked on a state for an individual who lives in a state with no income taxes. How can I get it off this one return. Other ones I file use this state so I do not want to delete the state from my program.

You can remove the state return from one individual return using these steps:

  1. While you are in the federal return, click File (in the black bar at the top of the screen) and then click Remove State Return.
  2. A window will pop up with the states included in that returns.   Click the state return you want to delete to highlight it and click Remove
  3. Close the window to continue with the return.

@Diane Stephens

Several  states do not have a state income tax.  So these states will not show up in certain drop down lists.   Leave boxes 15, 16, and 17 blank when you enter a W-2 for these states.

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming
