Since your return was rejected, you can remove the dependent then re-e-file.

  • In your return, click on Personal Info tab
  • Your Personal Info Summary will display
  • On the Personal Info Summary screen, your dependents are listed just below your filing status
  • Click on the Delete button for the dependent which you wish to delete
  • A pop-up box will display, asking whether you wish to delete the dependent – click the Yes button to delete the dependent
  • Click on Done button
  • When you return to the Personal Info Summary page, the removed dependent will no longer display

I went back into my tax form & deleted a dependent that was the problem. Is that all i need to do?

Yes, if you removed the dependent that was causing the rejection, you should be able to resubmit and E-file your return.

I am old (78) and  forgot. Is AGI before or after deductions?  Can you explain? Also I couldn't find a place on your forms where it said AGI (Adjusted Gross Income).

I don't remember my pin from last year, I didn't realize I had to remember it and I looked back at last year's taxes (filed through Turbo Tax) and couldn't find it there either.  What do I do now?

Do you need your 2019 AGI to efile?  The AGI is on 2019 1040 line 8b. If you filed a Joint return you use the same AGI for each spouse.  This year for 2020 the AGI is on line 11

How to find the AGI.

If you didn't file 2019 or filed it later in the year then try entering 0 for the AGI. If that doesn't work you will have to print and mail your return.

Or request a transcript from the IRS
