Refund way overdue.

I used TurboTax to file my federal taxes and they were accepted on 02/25/2021. I only have a few hundred dollar refund coming but it is now 05/02/2021 and still nothing. I filed electronically and requested direct deposit. It's not a complicated return. Just my wife and I filing jointly with only pension and social security income and pretty much standard deductions. I also checked the IRS find my refund website and it says still processing. This Thursday it will be 10 weeks.  Is it possible they lost my return?

Only the IRS controls when and if a tax refund is Approved and Sent.

Since the season started 2 weeks later than normal millions more returns piled up in the processing pipeline   so  it is understandable that it will take a bit longer than normal  to clear the backlog of returns so patience will be needed ... check the IRS site every couple of days for a progress report :

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Call the IRS:  1-800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday

When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info).  Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.

Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".

Then press 3 "for all other questions."

Then press 2 "for all other questions."

- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don’t enter anything.

- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Then press 2 and then 4 …

It should then transfer you to an agent.
