Just curious to see if anyone knows why my status still says pending 4 days after filing yet my son and my friend, who both filed at the same time, already had their returns accepted. The IRS website stated it isn't processing returns until January 27, 2020. So why are some returns already accepted and mine is still pending? Any help is appreciated.
The IRS pulls small batches of tax returns for test purposes. The vast majority of federal tax returns will not be accepted by the IRS until on and after January 27.

It is the 28th and mine is still pending what should I do?
Pending means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government hasn't accepted or rejected it yet. When you e-file your return in January, it'll stay in Pending status until the IRS starts processing the backlog of returns.
@Kwells0216, the 27th was the first day that the IRS opened up their 2020 filing season for individual filers; please see here: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-opens-2020-filing-season-for-individual-filers-on-jan-27
