Please see this Help Article for possible reasons as to why your refund was less than expected.

If you used Refund Transfer, in this public forum, we do not have access to any information regarding refund processing. It would be necessary to contact TPG for additional information. They are one who handles your refund if you elected to pay your fees with your refund. You can also check out this TPG Help Article to check on your refund.

Thank you for that clarification. You may have a refund offset. Please see this Help Article for more information regarding refund offsets.

You will need to contact the IRS regarding your refund being less than expected. Please see How do I contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)? for more information, including the IRS phone number and hours of operation. You may want to try calling right when they open since they have been very busy throughout the day.

I’m missing 1,000 from mine. I feel we need to reach out to the others as it seems there are a lot of us missing funds and we are all being told the issue is on our end, but it appears to be widespread enough to indicate that is not the case.

I'm missing about $800.

TurboTax does not receive any further information regarding tax returns once accepted by the IRS. You should get a letter from the government explaining why you didn't get the entire refund. You can also get this information by looking up your refund at the IRS Where's My Refund page.

Please see the TurboTax FAQ below for additional information as to why your refund came in less than expected: Why is my direct-deposited refund or check lower than the amount in TurboTax?

My refund is short over 1500. The IRS informed me on what I would receive and you did not pay me all my money.

TT does not receive tax refunds, so could not have held back your money.

I'm missing $1400....... I have no dependents and nothing has changed from last year.... IRS won't pick up the phone. What is everyone else doing to resolve this?

If your refund is short $1,400 then that is because you said you did not receive the 3rd stimulus payment and the IRS has records that show you were sent the 3rd stimulus payment so they removed the $1,400 Recovery Rebate Credit that was entered on Form 1040 Line 30.

Go to this IRS website for your tax account to see if the 3rd stimulus payment is entered - https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account

If you checked your bank account in the March - May 2021 timeframe and there is not a $1,400 EIP3 payment from the IRS then go to this IRS website for how to start a trace on the payment - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/questions-and-answers-about-the-third-economic-impact-payment-topic-j-payment-issued-but-lost-stolen-destroyed-or-not-received

OMG thank you so much!!! Apparently I did receive the 3rd and had no idea. My father claimed me on his 2019 return so I didn't receive the first 2 stimulus checks, I assumed I also didn't receive the 3rd.

Idk if you can answer this - but am I being penalized for not declaring that I received the 3rd, or is it simply that if you received the 3rd you get the $1400 taken out of your return?

No penalty.  The IRS simply removes the credit from your tax return thereby reducing your federal tax refund.

The IRS deducted $60 for my fee processing and send my routing # and savings acct. # to the TPG group for payment.  They deducted $1,500 from my IRS refund status!  What the hell?  I can't get any information from the IRS and I did not approve of a 3rd party having my personal account information.  This is outrageous and I hope TurboTax has an answer on why their software allowed this to happen!  I want my $1,500.

@Boracho1309

What is the amount shown as Issued/Sent on the IRS federal tax refund website - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Have you factored in the TurboTax account fees and the TPG service charge of $39?
Review your TurboTax account fees -
Sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on View Order Details

If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return.

For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/

The processing fee at TPG was supposed to be $39.   They have deducted an amount of $1,500 from my  TurboTax (after fee deduction) by $1,500!  I tried to call their support line of [phone number removed] and got the message that "our customer service care team does not have any  additional information at this time".   I hope that they are working on this issue to correct my under payment.  Very frustrating!
