Letter 6475

I filed my taxes this year early January. I received them about a week ago but did not receive what i was suppose to on my taxes. Instead i received a letter “Letter 6475”. What am i suppose to do with that letter? This is new to me

Letter 6475 shows how much you received for the 3rd EIP payment---the stimulus for $1400 per person.   When you answered questions in Federal Review for the recovery rebate credit you were supposed to enter how much you received.   Did you do that?    Or did you file a return without answering the question?   Look at your Form 1040.   Is there an amount on line 30?   If you already received the stimulus payment line 30 should be blank.   If you put an amount there incorrectly it will delay your refund, but the IRS will fix the mistake.

Letter 6475 is just telling you what the IRS sent you for the 3rd Stimulus back in March.  It was 1,400 per person.   Check your bank statements if you got it.  Then you need to reconcile it on your tax return on line 30.  Do you have an amount on line 30 for the Recovery Rebate Credit?  Line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify for more.   Sounds like you may have tried to claim it again on line 30.

If you didn't get the separate stimulus payments that the IRS sent you then you need to put a trace on it.

Request a trace for a missing third Stimulus payment

I didn’t get a 3rd stimulus check, however i reviewed my 1040 form and line 30 did in fact have $1,400 on it. Is there a way to fix that mistake?

If you did Not receive the 3rd stimulus payment then you are eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2021 federal tax return.  The credit on Line 30 showing $1,400 is correct based on what you indicated.

The IRS sent me an economic impact payment letter 6475 claiming they issued me $1400 for a 3rd payment  in 2021. I never received a 2nd or a 3rd payment. I went on the IRS website and it also claims they sent me $1400. I know if I enter  I did not receive it on my return the IRS will kick it back. The IRS is virtually impossible  to contact    on the phone. Am I screwed?

If you didn't get the 3rd Stimulus check but the IRS shows they sent it to you then request a trace for a missing third Stimulus payment
