Letter 6475 amount does not match the check received

TT Forum,

I am totally new to this forum.  My wife and I each received a Letter 6475 that said we each received $1400.  However, we received a check for ~$2700 and have a copy of the check.  Our AGI is below the $150,000 threshold.  Can I enter the correct amount of the check we received into TT and get a credit for the difference?

Yes, you should enter exactly what you received. Be prepared for proof of deposits to match the amount you actually received.  Also, there could be a delay, however you should receive all you are entitled to.  This is reconciled on the 2021 tax return using the Recover Rebate Credit (RRC) under the Federal Review tab.

You are not required to enter more than you received.  Double check the IRS website to see if they changed the amount there, also make sure they didn't withhold any funds or any reason.
