Just got a Vanguard Corrected 1099 and have already e filed-problem

Unfortunately, while I saved a PDF of my tax return, I dumbly renamed my file AFTER downloading the corrected Vanguard 1099 form so no longer have my original file.  Vanguard no longer has the original 1099 online.

With the corrected 1099, I owe significantly more in both Federal and State taxes.  Unfortunately, I have a significant number of investment transactions so simply printing out the PDF and comparing it to each page of a revised form would be EXTREMELY time consuming.

Is there a way I can retrieve the tax return that I e-filed on turbo tax, save it, and then more easily do a corrected return or is there no option but for me to do this the "long way"?

Thank you

Yes.  If you used Turbo Tax online account, you will need to amend your 2020 return.

  1. You can log into your account
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the landing page to Your tax returns & document
  3. Choose 2020 and then choose Amend/Change return
  4. Once you begin amending.  The refund monitor will reset to zero but then you can go to income>investment income>Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B and begin to amend your entries.

Since you used TurboTax for Desktop your return is only stored locally on your PC. However, you can get a copy of your tax transcript from the IRS. Please see the below TurboTax Help Article to assist with this:
