I was charged an extra tax for excess contributions in my HSA. I am 59 years old and deposit 4500.00 total, including any amounts that my employer puts in. That's 3500.00, plus the 1000.00 for being over 55. Why did I get charged when I didn't make excess contributions? There is only one line to put that amount in that I saw. How can I fix this? I was overcharged 270.00 in taxes and will probably be again next year if no one shows me what I did wrong, or what Turbo Tax did wrong...whichever it is. I've used this for years and as far as I know never had an incorrect calculation until now. Also, why in the world does it cost me 60.00 to file?
You should not be penalized since you are over 55. You may need to contact TurboTax to have an agent do a screen share with you to see what entries were made. You can contact TurboTax as follows:

You can view your fees by clicking on the "Tax Tools" option on your left menu bar, then choose "Tools", then "My Fees". If you feel your fees are not correct, please click on the "Help with My Fees" option at the bottom of the "My Turbo Tax Fees" screen for suggestions on how to reduce your fees.
