I received a letter from IRS in September 2022; it stated I made a mistake on my 2021 Form 1040. I didn't make a mistake; I replied such via a letter in September 2022. It's a simple matter. I haven't heard from them in reply to my letter. How long is reasonable to NOT hear from them? Please advise. Thanks.

The IRS has been behind on correspondence for several years now. The average wait on a response to a letter written to them is six months. That's the average so half of them take longer than that.
If I were you I would wait until after April 15th to make contact with them. Then you can contact your local IRS office directly and have someone check your case history and see if your letter has been processed yet.
Here's how to contact the IRS.
Thanks for answering; much appreciated.
On 2/10, I faxed Form 911 to my local TAS. On 2/15, they contacted me. They requested a copy of my correspondence with the IRS. They will assist "until it's resolved."
