I purchased 2008 Turbo Tax back in, well, 2008. I have the .tax files, but not the software. To my astonishment, my state is now requesting information for which I need my return. I cannot get one from the IRS, as they do not go back that far. Doesn't seem to be a way to get the 2008 software, nor is there a way to open the files. Any suggestions as to how to get the software?
It is unlikely that you will be able to find/use and old copy of TTax for 2008. Even if you could find a copy there is no way you could also find the latest set of program updates or any state package you might need. Without the appropriate or needed state package TTax would not correctly/accurately open your data file (even if you only need the Federal version) since the Federal and state data are intertwined in the file. And, without the latest set of updates it is very likely your tax file would be interpreted incorrectly. It is always a good idea to keep the program source (disc or download, & update downloads) in a safe place along with the actual .tax data file, .pdf file, and a paper copy.

There are 3rd party companies that do offer to be able to print old TTax files. While these companies are not associated with, authorized by, sponsored in any way, or related to TTax, people apparently have used them since some have been around for many years. A Google search should help you --there is at least one tax printer recovery company that I've seen.
Also, protect yourself !! Before trying any printing/recovery process or company
make a copy of the files for safe keeping.
YMMV
The software is no longer supported for 2008 ... do you have the 2008 tax file and cannot open it ?

Sorry you can not update that old or download the state program to open your .tax file. You can try converting the .tax file to a pdf using
I forgot to say that even if you find 2008 online (Ebay, Amazon, etc.) you won't be able to update it. They only support the last 3 years.
I am not sure if you are still looking for 2008 TurboTax software but I have a copy I could let you have.
The 2008 program is USELESS ... it cannot be installed or updated any longer ... it will not work.
