The IRS or your state depending who you work the payment plan out with will send you a letter letting you know that they've approved your payment plan and the amount that you said you can each month with all the details on it.
You can also call the IRS to speak to a representative or call your State and speak to a representative and find out what they have in their system already whether or not they've approved you for the payment plan.
