From 1040X shows no amounts (blank) for columns A, B, C. Is this expected?
From 1040X shows no amounts (blank) for columns A, B, C. I had no change in these amounts; needed to amend return to include updated 8949 and 1040 schedule D that did not impact amounts. Is this expected?

Yes. If there were no changes affecting these amounts, then the columns would be blank.
You should have an amount on line16, though, the tax paid with the original return, request for extension, or additional tax paid.
