When I complete my return, I was offered a free CPA consultation. Since I had a question about a new SE deduction, I requested a call and the popup showed I would receive a call within 5 minutes. Less than a minute later the phone rang and before I could answer, the call terminated with a message saying "sorry you missed our call, we won't call again". Of course, you can't reach a human being at TT to explain the situation and get the opportunity to talk to a CPA...unless you want to pay $200. Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, were you able to get any assistance from TT? Is the "free consultation" a bogus offer?
Solved. I started back through the program and the free consultation popped up again. I was able to use it and spoke to a young man who answered my question. I asked him when the deduction in question became part of the tax code, and he said 2018. While we talked, he checked my 2018 return and thinks I might get a $600 refund by filing an amended return. Thanks!
I was disconnected on my cell phone after talking to the CPA he has my name, phone and email and has yet to call me back :(
