Sorry but Printed or Ready to Mail means you have to print out your return and mail it to the IRS yourself. So it has not been filed yet.

How to change from Mail to Efile

Turbo Tax will always say Ready to Mail. They don't know if or when you actually mailed it. And the IRS doesn't tell Turbo Tax when they get a mailed return.

and Direct Deposit refers to how you choose to receive your refund, not how you choose to file the tax return.

As VolvoGirl said, if you didn't actually print and mail it, then it has not been filed.  You can either go ahead and mail it, or if you wish to change methods, you can open your return back up using the method she suggested and try to efile the return.  While it's open, you can also change your refund method to direct deposit, if desired.     As SweetieJean said, you can use direct deposit on either an efiled return or a mailed return.

There is no fee for direct deposit of a refund.   However, there is a service fee of 39.99 (44.99 for California filers) if you choose to pay any TurboTax fees out of the Federal refund.

Do you need to see the refund method you picked?

If you haven't filed yet you can change how to receive your refund by going though the File tab.

I already filed my return electronically but checked single instead of head of household. How can I change that when. It is already accepted by the irs if  your site is not letting people amend  until the middle of February.?

You have to wait.  You need to wait anyway until the IRS is done Processing your return and you get the first refund.
