Filing 2018 Tax amendment in 2020

I amended my 2018 return today March 7th, 2020, because my second child (dependent) was omitted from the original tax refund application.

The issue now is that I had mistakenly mailed the 1040X with 1040, EIC. ACTC forms to the IRS.  Because when I printed it on TurboTax, it printed the 1040X with 1040, ACTC and EIC. So, I mailed them all to the IRS for refund.

What is the way forward?

Should I resend the mail by sending only 1040X alone? I can see the 1040X is just 2 pages.

I would not resend anything. If the IRS finds something wrong they will send you a letter with the amended return and let you know what you need to change or do.

You can also verify with the IRS, by following the contact instructions below:

How do I contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)?

Note:

You will need to follow the prompts in order to speak to an IRS agent. There is a high call volume this time of year.

When calling the IRS do NOT choose Option 1.

Choose Option 2 after you choose the language.

Then Press 1

Then Press 3

Then Press 2, it will then transfer you to an agent.
