Filed Federal return (accepted) but not State return at same time. Now can't e-file state.

Accidentally e-file Federal return separately, which was accepted, without filing state return (NY) at same time. When I go to e-file NY return, I receive error stating 'to e-file, you must also select the federal return', but I am no longer given option to submit... since it was submitted earlier. I've tried restarting software, rebooting computer, still can't e-file NY state.
