Federal tax return rejected

For the second year in a row, federal tax return was rejected because of AGI supposedly wrong. Not wrong on my copy. The refund last year was $20 more than my return, no explanation, just DD in my account. Now I do not know why and now think the AGI was wrong because they corrected something which gave me the extra $20. How do I resolve this problem for this year?

ENTER 0 FOR AGI. The IRS took a long time last year to process 2020 returns so the AGI didn't get entered in time. Especially if you mailed it. Thats works for most people. See...

If you can’t get it to efile you will have to print and mail it.

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

After trying to get the info online, I finally gave up. Last resort was to put zero for AGI…..AND IT WORKED!!!! Thank you for the suggestion! Return was accepted!

I didn't address this on my first post. The $20 might have been interest on the refund if they took a long time to pay it. Did you get an interest statement or 1099 INT from the IRS? You might have needed to enter it as income.
