If your e-filed return is pending, you will not be able to make any changes until it is accepted or rejected by the IRS. After that, you can amend your return. Please see How to amend (change or correct) a return you've already filed for more information.

The question concerns an error on an old return.  I have used TurboTax  every year since 2007.  On my 2013  Form 8801 Line 19 was entered $209,510, described as "credit carried forward" from 2012 form 8801 line 28.  However on my 2012 form 8801 line 28 was blank, apparently because the mount on line 21 was zero.   I believe the $209,510 entry mentioned above was erroneously entered by TurboTax.

This entry has been carried forward by TurboTax year to year producing on schedule 3 (form 1040-SR) line 6 a credit of $8738.  This has led to a bill from the IRS for underpayment and for inaccurate information on my 2019 return.  My question is how could this occur, and how does the TurboTax guarantee of accuracy apply to my situation.
