efile filing rejected

the rejection is related to not providing the new pins. I originally used last year's pins. after rejection, I got new ones from IRS site but they are 6 digits numbers. turbo tax is expecting 5 digits. not sure how to proceed.

The 5 digit PIN is any self-selected number you choose.  It is used in conjunction with the 2022 AGI to verify your electronic filing.

The 6 digit IP PIN you receive from the IRS is for protecting you from identity theft on your tax return.

To enter, edit or delete a 6 digit IP PIN

Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Other Tax Situations
Scroll down to Other Return Info
On Identity Protection PIN, click the start button

Yes, the six digit IP PIN doesn't go at the end of the return. Here's how to enter it:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax Online and select Fix my return.
  2. On the Let's fix your return and then refile screen, select Fix it now or Revisit.
  3. Try to follow the on-screen instructions to fix the problem.
  4. If the program doesn't take you to the IP PIN screen, scroll down to Other Tax Situations, select the down arrow to the right.
  5. Select Review/ Edit.
  6. Select the down arrow to the right of Other Return Info
  7. Select Start or Update to the right of Identity Protection PIN.
  8. Answer the first question Yes.
  9. Select  Add to the right of your name.
  10. Enter the number on the next screen.
  11. At this point, look for Continue to file and keep going until you submit your return again.
