If your e-filed tax return is in a Pending state, it is waiting for the IRS to either accept or reject the federal tax return. Due to the huge volume of tax returns filed just before and on 04/15 there is always a back-up at this time of year. As long as your tax return was transmitted on or before 04/15 you tax return and any tax payment is not late.
There has been a high volume of e-filing in the past several days, so it is not surprising to have a bit of a wait to see if your e-file has been accepted, or for payments to the IRS or state to not be showing up yet.
Did you e-file? Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”
When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say that your return was submitted. The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected. If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?
Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?” Or “Rejected?” Or “Printed?”
