E-file reject

Rejection code IND - 031-04 "The primary taxpayer's AGI or Self-select PIN from last year does not match IRS records."

 

In troubleshooting, the AGI is correct, both from the saved tax return and from the IRS transcript I downloaded.  SSN also is correct, and only the original return was e-filed timely (April 2021) last year, with no amendment made.

 

With incorrect AGI ruled out, I'm focused on the part of the error message that says "Self-select PIN from last year does not match IRS records."  I don't have last year's PIN, and TurboTax this year said I could chose any PIN I wanted.

 

Is the PIN the issue?  How to solve?

If you are positive the AGI was correct, you can try entering $0 as the AGI to re-file.
