double tax with amended return

so I owe an additional $800 with amended return

This reduces my previous overpayment by $800 (1040)

efiled amended and today IRS is taking $800 from my checking account!

This means the reduction in overpayment applied to '22 is low by $800.

How do I claim this $800 and have it applied to '22

The way I'm reading your statement is that the amendment resulted in the original refund being reduced by $800.  Because you processed and paid the amount for the amendment before the IRS completed your return, your refund will still be reported in full when the IRS processes it.

That's not what the 1040 shows!!! So TT for '22 will know the correct amount to apply to '22 taxes?
