Determining When IRS will take Payment

Is there some way to determine when I told the IRS to pull my payment from my bank account?

Yes,

How do I review the method I chose to pay my federal income tax with, after filing with TurboTax Online?

You can verify the tax payment method you chose on the Electronic Filing Instructions for your 2019 Federal Tax Return page, next to Balance Due/Refund.

  1. Open your return if it isn't already open.
  2. On the [Your name], your 2019 federal return was accepted! screen, scroll down and select Add a State (don't worry, we're not adding a state) to access your tax forms and worksheets.
  3. In the left menu select Tax Tools then Print Center.
  4. On the TurboTax Print Center screen, select Print, save or preview this year's return.
  5. On the next TurboTax Print Center screen, select 2019 federal returns and Include government and TurboTax worksheets (optional) then select View or print forms.
  6. The information will be on the first page, Electronic Filing Instructions for your 2019 Federal Tax Return next to Balance Due/Refund.

Just to clarify, did you pay your taxes online? What type of vouchers are you seeing?

I filed my federal taxes on TurboTax on 4/3.  They were accepted by the IRS on 4/4.

I owed money on my federal returns and provided bank account information so that IRS could deduct the funds directly.  I indicated on the returns that IRS can/could do this on 4/5.

It is now 4/20 and the funds have yet to be deducted from my bank account.  Is the IRS so backlogged that they won't take my payment until they get around to it or is there something else I need to do?

Thanks

No, you do not need to do anything else.

Please see the link below for additional information as far as when your payment will go through.

There is also a handy reference at the bottom of the following link as well that you can click about what to do after you file your taxes.  I recommend clicking on that as well as it provides more direction as to what to do if your payment does not go through as you directed it to.

As long as your payment is scheduled to go through by May 17th, you will be considered filed and paid before the due date.

When will your tax payment go through
