Delayed 2020 refund

Hello, update on my refund. I finally got in contact with an IRS agent and was told that I needed to verify my identity for some reason and it would take an additional 9 weeks after for me to receive the refund.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes. In some instances, you will need to verify your identity with the IRS. This helps prevent an identity thief from getting your refund.

If you want to verify your identity online and have not done so already, please go to Identity Verification Service

Yes, I am having the same issue and it is unacceptable.  My federal return was acknowledged to be received on February 11, 2021.  I received an E-mail quite a while ago saying prove I am who I am.  So I answered all the questions and the IRS said yep, you are who you are.  Still says I am pending and it is May 12, 2021.  3 months after acknowledging receipt.  This is ridiculous and  frustrating.

Pending simply means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government hasn't accepted or rejected it yet.

If you e-filed your return before February 12, it'll stay in Pending status until the IRS starts processing the backlog of returns.

After that, e-filed returns generally sit in Pending status for 24–48 hours before coming back as either Accepted or Rejected. Sometimes state returns stay in Pending for several days or even longer.

Keep calm and check back

Until your state or the IRS processes your return,  you may hear there's "no record found." That actually means the return's still being processed. Just check back in a few days.

I got an email from Turbo Tax on 6/11/21 stating my account has been updated.  What does this mean and when should we receive our refund or is there a problem?
