Cover sheet (summary page)

In past years, the pdf with the tax return had a cover sheet with AGI, taxable income, effective tax rate etc. That form does not appear this year. I have gone to print center multiple times, both before and after I electronically filed my return, and that cover sheet remains missing. Is there any way to find it or has TT stopped preparing it?

There is a known issue that some customers are not seeing the filling instructions and/or summary page on the Cover page. To locate the Filling instructions and Summary Page follow the steps below:

  • From the TurboTax home screen locate the left panel. Click on Tax Tools, then Print Center. (if you don't see the Tax tools menu right away, open any section of your return, for example your W-2 section, then try again to locate the left panel)
  • click on Print, save or preview this year's return. The summary page will be included there.

The above method does NOT work for a number of customers this year.  I see it continues to get posted despite not working.

Quite right. That method does not work. I tried to anticipate this response by saying i had tried this multiple times.

@NicolleR1

Yep...my brother e-filed both Fed and GA this morning (didn't save a copy before e-filing).

After Fed and GA were Accepted, I directed him back to the Print Center (have to get back in using the "Add a State" selection).    Then to the Tools & Print Center, then viewed each of the 3 different PDF options...File only, and the two different extended PDFs with a ton of forms & worksheets, and none of the PDFs has the Filing Instructions sheets...

Certainly, My Desktop software still shows the Filing Instructions sheets in Forms Mode, so I know they should be in there, but I haven't actually filed yet, so don't know if TTX will surreptitiously delete them after filing.

Yep, doesn't work.

I have now tried other suggestions found in other streams for resolving the question of missing cover pages including clearing cache and using an entirely separate browser (I was in Chrome doing return, and signed in again with MS Edge). In Edge, the return was still lacking the cover sheets.

Does anyone have a definitive solution that works, or could someone from TT weigh in on whether in 2024 we should expect to see the cover sheets?

thanks.

I have done the same with negative results.  In years past I have found the cover sheet an integral part of the return for my benefit.  Would like to get it back.

Why is the cover page missing for tax year 2024?? and how can I find it?

"Print Center" is only for people doing their taxes online.

I bought the Desktop software thinking it might be less buggy, but I can't get the summary sheet or mailing instructions, either.  April 2025 for the 2024 tax year.

@LaDelfina2

For the desktop software...open your tax return and switch to Forms Mode  ("Forms" icon in the upper-rt area of the window

My Summary sheet and Mailing instructions show up in Forms Mode.....in the left-side window...right at the end of the list of Federal Forms...just before the state tax forms section.

I completed my taxes online.  Tax summary page nowhere to be found.

@zoom3888

For the "Online" software users, that is a different issue...apparently never "fixed".

If it's AFTER you have already e-filed...If you look at the Fed & State acceptance boxes...and down below them is a text line to click on to "Add A State"....click on that (you won't really be adding a state).

Once inside your 2024 tax return, the menu will be in the left-side window...where you can go thru the Tools/Tax Tools menu to get the Print Center to show up.  From there you can create a NEW PDF file of your tax return ...but select the one with all the worksheets....that should contain the  Tax Summary and Filing Instructions forms for you to peruse (Plus some other stuff you may want to see in the future)

BACK THOSE PDF Files into a USB flash Drive for future reference....thousands of folks computers crash every year, and TTX only keeps the last 7 years of PDF files and drops the oldest one every year
