But...depending on your situation (which you have not explained)....you might have to pay for the state software if you are talking about using "Desktop" Basic if you haven't yet prepared your State using Desktop Basic.
For instance:
1) If you have prepared your 2022 Federal+State taxes already, using any of the "Online" versions, but now have to transfer that file to the "Desktop" software, in that situation, you should be buying a Deluxe Desktop version (be sure to get a Deluxe that includes one free state download). That's cheaper than buying Desktop Basic, and then being forced to buy a state too.

2) But, if you've already used "Desktop" Basic to prepare BOTH Federal+State parts, then you should be able to print the State part....because you couldn't have prepared the State part without first buying the State software.
