If you have already filed the return and it has been accepted by the IRS you will need to amend the return. If the return has been rejected you can make changes and re-file otherwise an amendment is needed.

Amended returns cannot be e-filed, so you'll need to print and mail the return to the IRS before it will be processed.
  • Log in to your TurboTax Online account.
  • On the welcome screen, scroll down to "Your tax returns & documents", click on Show to expand.
  •  Select "Amend (change) return", then click on "Amend using TurboTax Online".
  • Select "Amend (change) a filed and accepted return" and follow the instructions, then you can change your filing status.
  • Once you are finished amending, print and mail your return to the IRS address listed on your summary printout.
