amended return

I e-filed my federal and state return Monday and realized today that there was a huge mistake made.   Can I e-file an amended return to Federal and Oklahoma?

You should not amend too soon.    Amending while the IRS is still processing your return can lead to confusion and long delays.   Wait for the IRS to process your return and then amend.  What was the huge mistake?  Sometimes the IRS catches mistakes and corrects them.

Yes, you can e-file your amended return to the IRS and Oklahoma (OK) must be mailed according to the instructions. TurboTax will provide the instructions. Check out page 6 and 26 in the link below.  As indicated you can wait a short time, however if you will owe additional tax do not wait past April 15th to file your amendment.

I amended my 2024 Oklahoma return through TurboTax, and it said it e-filed my amended return. Is TurboTax wrong? Do I need to physically mail it still?

I'm a fellow user--not a tax expert--but I see no one has responded to your comment.  I assume you are referring to a personal Oklahoma tax return.  So far, as a fellow user, I have not found any evidence that an amended Oklahoma personal state return can be efiled.   In any case TurboTax can only efile amended state returns in 11 states, according to the FAQ below, and Oklahoma is not listed.   See the list in this FAQ:

Because of the discrepancy in what you experienced, you should phone TurboTax Support to see how they explain what happened in your case and why TurboTax said it was efiled.   I'll also tell you below how to phone the Oklahoma Tax Commission's Taxpayer Resource Center to see what they say about it.

Yes, you efile an amended OK state tax return. You should have received confirmation that your amended OK return was accepted. If you are concerned because you may not have received your refund to date, please note that amended returns take a long time to process.

Reach out to the Oklahoma Tax Commission first to verify the status of your efiled amended Oklahoma tax return here. Mailing in an amended return after its already been efiled can make things more complicated and messy.
