Amended return

I filed our Federal return, we live in Texas so a state return was not required.  I have since received a K-1 that includes a California and Arizona K-1.  I was told that I would not receive a K-1, but here we are

Using TurboTax, how do I handle this.  I must amend the Federal but first time file the two states.

Thanks for your advice

You may not need to file the two state returns.

CA non-resident

AZ non-resident

I'm wondering if I can use Turbotax to file the amendment, and then file the two states as first time filing

Or do I have to prepare the Federal amendment manually and then file the states as original filings as I never filed the first time

You can file your Federal amendment, and then if required file your other state returns for the first time.

Go into the program as filing for the amendment. Once finished the Federal return, download and work on the state returns. Make sure the state programs are not set to amend. You can double-check, most states have an amend switch in the Other Tax Situations section of the state return.
