The 1040X that you need is not yet available, so you need to change your return back to exactly the way it looked when you filed it originally.   In a few weeks when you can use the correct form, you can work from the return exactly as it looked when originally filed.

@Jtorres1982  - Wait!  Amending is not available yet for 2021.  Your amended 2021 return was rejected because IRS is not accepting amended returns for 2021 yet.  You will have to wait until your original return has been processed and the IRS is accepting amended.  Please use the link below for additional information.

Before filing an amended return, make sure the IRS has already processed the tax return you need to amend. That way, you can ensure the IRS won't get your original return and amended return mixed up. If you've already received your tax refund, then you know the IRS has already processed your return.

To amend a prior-year return, select its tax year below for specific instructions. (Note: the option to amend a 2021 tax return will become available later in the tax season.)

Wait until you receive your refund to amend. If you owe, you can amend e-filed returns if they've been accepted and paper-filed returns after they've been mailed.

Once you begin the amendment process, you'll see your original return. Only make changes to the areas of your return that need amending. The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund (or tax due).

You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment.
