Amended 2018 sent in May 2020

I mailed my amended tax return for 2018 tax year in certified mail May 2020 to the IRS office in my state, I have checked the amended tax return tool and I have received the same message :

 

Your amended return information is currently unavailable in this application. It takes up to 3 weeks for an amended return to show on your account. You can generally expect your amended return to be processed within 16 weeks from the date we receive it. Check the date you filed your amended return and try again later.

 

I did check that it was delivered thru the USPS tool, I called and I have spoken to 2 agents, their answer is we are backlogged and can give me no information. I did receive the refund from my state amended tax in September 2020 at this point do I refile thru the online IRS tax site it's been 8 months?

Due to Covid, the IRS is very backed up. If your tracking information shows they received it, do not send or amend it online again, that will only cause further delay.
