Accidentally Re-transmitted 2019 Business Return

Hello,

I completed my 2020 Business taxes for my S-Corp a week ago using turbotax business 2020 but did not transmit them. This morning I accidentally opened turbotax business 2019 and transmitted those forms again.  Should I contact the IRS?  If so how and which department?  I have also transmitted my 2020 business returns.

If you e-filed your 2019 business return previously, most certainly your second e-filing of the 2019 business return will be rejected by the IRS. The IRS will not accept 2 e-filed returns for the same EIN and the same tax year.

Thank you.  If this is not the case should I notifiy the IRS?  If so how?

Thanks again.

There is no need to try to notify the IRS.

If your return is not rejected (which it likely will be) there will be no changes as the information transmitted was identical to the information already on file.

If it is rejected, you are expecting that and there is no action that you need to take.
