2020 Return Received over 12 weeks ago

Hi. I mailed in my 2020 return after obviously filing late and the green card that shows IRS received it was stamped May 7 (USPS show it was received much earlier but whatever.)

There has been no movement on my account UNTIL recently when the 2020 Account Transcripts was "clickable" on the IRS site. (Before it was grayed out and couldn't click.)

Was excited to see something happening only to click on it and it is showing my old last name and filing status (I'm now married, filing jointly) and nothing else . Why would it show my old details and appear to be mocing forward but blank.ALSO  has a date of Aug 12, 2024, what does the date mean.

What is likely going on here? I've looked under notices and it isn't showing any.

Instead of trying to glean information from transcripts, have you looked at the IRS refund site?

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2020 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

Thank you. I'll try that (again). I tried yesterday and still was unable to talk to a live person.

Doesn't work for 2020. Only 2021-2023.

Ah...darn it....that's right....Where's my refund site is no longer showing 2020.

See if this helps---I am not sure if this will help for 2020
