1040X Student Loan

I completed my taxes and submitted them for 2019.  I have received my refund.  I now realize that I only included one of my student loan interest forms and I have two.  I understand that I need to complete a 1040X form which I downloaded.   After reading all of the instructions I became completely overwhelmed.  Is there a really simple way to make the correction?

Thank you!

You have a choice of doing it within the program or printing the forms from the IRS website and doing it by hand. You can find IRS instructions as well.

May I just update the original form and send it in as a correction?

Thank you.

Do you mean submit two 1040s? No. You must file a 1040x.

ColeenD3 is correct, you’ll need to amend using Form 1040X.

You note that you downloaded the form and the instructions.  Amending by hand can be overwhelming, as you note, but, if you used a TurboTax product to create your original return, it’s really very easy.

Please see the TurboTax Help article "How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filed" for instruction on how to amend your previously-filed tax return.
