If you move before filing your tax return, put the new address on your return. The IRS will update your records when they process your return.
If you move after filing your return, you can:
Have the post office forward mail to your new address. Some post offices don't forward government checks, so you may have to choose another method.
Change your address with the IRS. You can do that by form, in writing, or by phone.

Can I submit Form 8822 online?
Form 8822 can't be submitted online and must be mailed in. It shouldn't be attached to your tax return. The mailing address for Form 8822 depends on your state of residence. See the instructions for Form 8822 for the correct mailing address.

It typically takes four to six weeks for the IRS to process a change of address request.
Do I have to notify the IRS if I change my address?
