Where do I enter my Alaska Energy Relief Payment in TurboTax?
by TurboTax•105• Updated about 8 hours ago
Alaska shares a part of its mineral royalty income with residents every year in the form of an annual dividend. Alaska's Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) is subject to federal taxes and is reported on Form 1099-MISC.
For 2024, the $1,702 PFD included a $298.17 tax-exempt Energy Relief Payment that must be subtracted from the PFD. Follow these steps to enter this info in TurboTax:
- Open or continue your return.
- Navigate to the 1099-MISC section:
- TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to 1099-MISC.
- TurboTax Desktop: Search for 1099-misc and select Jump to 1099-misc.
- Answer Yes on the Did you get a 1099-MISC? screen.
- Fill out the details on the Let's get the info from your 1099-MISC screen, put the PFD amount in Box 3, and select Continue.
- Enter Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend as the reason for this 1099-MISC and select Continue.
- Select This was an Alaska Permanent Fund dividend distribution on the Does one of these uncommon situations apply? screen, then select Continue.
- Answer No to Do you have another 1099-MISC?, select Continue, then Done.
- On the Your Income summary screen, select Show more next to Less Common Income.
- You might have to select Show more income first.

- Select Start or Revisit next to Other reportable income.
