What health insurance info do I need to put on my tax return?
by TurboTax•846• Updated 6 days ago
Important: If you'll get a 1095-A, wait until you've received it to file your tax return. Filing without it will result in a rejection from the IRS. You should receive a Form 1095-A by mid-February if you purchased health insurance through the government.
The health insurance info needed depends on your situation:
- If you received Form 1095-A, you must enter it.
- If you have a health savings account (HSA), you need to report if you added or spent funds.
- If you live in California, the District of Columbia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, or Rhode Island, you might be fined for not having health insurance.
