How do I fix my rejected extension request in TurboTax Live Assisted Business?
by TurboTax•7• Updated 1 week ago
If you filed your Partnership income (Form 1065) or S corporation income (Form 1120S) extension before the tax deadline and it was rejected, you have 5 days to fix it.
Here's how:
- Download and fill out Form 7004 from the IRS.
- Include an explanation of why you're filing after the due date and a copy of the e-file rejection notification email.
- Mail the completed Form 7004 by certified mail with a return receipt. This will serve as your proof of the date you mailed your tax return and when the IRS received it.

- If you owe taxes on Form IT-204, you can pay by mailing payment with Form IT-370 PF or pay online at the New York Department of Taxation and Finance website.
- S Corporation: File Form CT-5.4 to request an extension online.
- If you owe taxes on Form CT-3-S, you can pay by mailing payment with Form CT-200 V or pay online at the New York Department of Taxation and Finance website.
