You can import a lot of your business info from QuickBooks to TurboTax, but there are some expenses that can’t be automatically copied.

You may need to manually add these expenses to your tax return after you finish importing:

  • Assets (depreciated or not)

  • Home office expenses

  • Vehicle expenses (standard mileage or actual expenses)

  • Cost of goods sold

  • Charitable contributions

    • Sole proprietors: Report these under itemized deductions (Schedule A) not Schedule C.

  • Wages paid

  • Professional licenses or other taxes

    • Sole proprietors: Federal income taxes are not allowed expenses. Reports state and local income taxes under itemized deductions (Schedule A) not Schedule C.

  • Meals that can be deducted at 100%, including promotional meals

Other income and expenses might not get imported, so be sure to check if any are missing and add them manually.
