How does the end of support for Catalina 10.15 affect my TurboTax experience?

SOLVEDby TurboTax6Updated December 06, 2022

Apple no longer supports computers running Catalina 10.15. This means that any data on your computer, including your tax data, may have increased exposure to security risks. For tax year 2022, TurboTax CD/Download requires macOS BigSur 11 or higher to install.

Older versions of TurboTax CD/Download (tax years 2019, 2020, and 2021) are compatible with Catalina 10.15 and higher.

If you use TurboTax Online, there’s no impact to you as long as you meet the minimum system requirements.

Yes, you’ll still be able to import your prior-year return after updating your Mac.

For help updating to Big Sur 11 or Monterey 12, visit Apple Support.

If you don’t want to update your operating system for tax year 2021, you can switch to TurboTax Online to file a return. Learn how to transfer your prior-year information from TurboTax CD/Download to TurboTax Online.

If you’d like to return your TurboTax desktop product, submit a refund request at refundrequest.intuit.com within 60 days of purchase. You’ll need your license code or order number and dated receipt.

Note: There’s no need to repurchase your TurboTax software after updating your Mac.
