E-file rejection errors IND-031-03 or IND-032-03: PrimaryPriorYearAGIAmt or SpousePriorYearAGIAmt mismatch
How to fix an e-filed return that was rejected with one of these errors:
- IND-031-03: 'PrimaryPriorYearPIN' or 'PrimaryPriorYearAGIAmt' in the Return Header must match the e-File database.
- IND-032-03: 'SpousePriorYearPIN' or 'SpousePriorYearAGIAmt' in the Return Header must match the e-File database.
Use your 2015 AGI, not your PIN, to verify your identity. Simply open TurboTax and follow the on-screen instructions to enter your AGI and resubmit your return.
If your return keeps getting rejected, or you can't get your 2015 AGI:
- Try entering 0 as your AGI. This sometimes works for taxpayers whose 2015 returns weren't processed by the IRS before late November of 2016.
- File a paper return instead of e-filing.
