[Event] Ask the Experts: Tax Law Changes - One Big Beautiful Bill
TurboTax's Tax Calculator is still pointed to the 2024 tax year, since taxpayers are still filing their 2024 taxes. It usually gets updated after the October 15th deadline. I recommend checking it in mid-November 2025.
The reason why it don't get released sooner is because tax legislation can and does occur. For example, with the One Big Beautiful Bill, there are certain tax implications for the 2025 tax year, as you've mentioned in your question - where seniors age 65 or older with a valid social security number could get an additional deduction of $6k on their 2025 taxes. This bill was passed in July 2025. If a 2025 calculator had been published prior to that time, that calculator would have yielded incorrect results. So waiting until further in the year helps to give a more reliable result based on updated tax laws.
I hope this answer helps! Keep the questions coming!
