@Bsch4477  I appreciate the information!  I did go to the IRS website:  https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/individuals/earned-income-tax-credit/who-qualifies-for-the-ea... and confirmed what you said, although it is still necessary to be separated from July on to qualify for EITC.  In some ways, it seems to defeat the purpose (since the taxpayer could likely claim HOH anyways), but if they have lower income and there's a question that they maintained at least 50% of household support, then this will remove any threat of losing out on EITC when this type of family is probably who most needs it.  I truly thank you for pointing this out to me.
