Self employed

If you are filing a 1099- NEC ‌for your personal tax return, take the following steps:

 

  1. Go to the Schedule C screen under Wages & Income.
  2. Answer Yes to Did you have any self-employment income or expenses? and answer the questions on the following screens regarding your work 
  3. If you land on Your 2025 self-employment work summary, select Add another line of work.
  4. When asked to enter your income, select and enter the info from your 1099-NEC form.
  5. When asked if you have expenses, answer Yes.
  6. Answer the questions regarding your work.
