Self employed
Your service tax form is saying that if you are a US citizen you won't get a tax form (1099-MISC/1099-NEC, which are both forms issued to a self-employed individual) to report your income on your taxes if you are a Corporation or tax-exempt organization or if Amazon pays you for equipment or supplies.
If you are not a U.S. citizen, your payments were non-U.S.-based payments and they are not reportable for tax purposes.
If this is correct, you do not have to report this income. If it is not correct, you should contact the issuer of your form.
You generally don't have to pay taxes/file a tax return if your income is less than the standard deduction or the total of your itemized deductions.
You would file a tax return if you had tax withheld from wages that you would like to have refunded to you.
For 2024, the standard deduction is as follows;
For single taxpayers and married individuals filing separately, the standard deduction is $14,600 in 2024.
For married couples filing jointly or a Qualified Surviving Spouse, the standard deduction is $29,200, and
For Head of Household, the standard deduction is $21,900
If you're at least 65 years old or blind, you can claim an additional deduction in 2024 of:
- $1,950 for single or Head of Household
- $1,550 for married or Qualified Surviving Spouse.
- If you're both 65 and blind, the additional deduction amount is doubled.
