I’m a PERA retiree in Colorado. I did work last year for a PERA employer as an independent contractor. PERA requires retirees and PERA employers to pay the PERA deduction just like it was paid in place of Social Security before retiring. Will my income still be subject to the self employment tax? If so I will have to pay 9% to PERA plus 15.3% to social security.
