Self employed
You will need to enter taxes already paid to the federal and state, whether for the Social Security and Medicare tax shown on Sch H for the wages or other payments. Usually only FUTA is paid during the year for a household employee. All taxes are then paid using the sch H for the employee and employer. Since you paid additional tax, follow these steps:
- Open your return to the federal Deductions and Credits section
- Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
- Select Estimates
- Select federal estimated taxes for 2023 (Form 1040ES)
- Did you pay....select yes
- Enter the amount paid for each quarter
- Continue
- If you paid state estimates, you can enter them now.
