Self employed
Generally, income from a 1099-MISC form is considered self-employment income but here are the instructions to enter the form so it is not included in self-employment income. First you can delete the 1099-MISC form that you already entered and then enter it again.
- Launch TurboTax and select Wages and Income
- Scroll down to Other Common Income and select Edit
- Select the trash that is next to the 1099-MISC form that you already entered to delete it
- Select Add Form
- Enter your 1099-MISC and select Continue
- Enter Paid Leave for the description and Continue
- Select None of these apply on the next screen
- Select only the tax year for this 1099-MISC and Continue
- Select No, it didn’t involve an intent to earn money and Continue
- Select No, if you don’t have any more forms to enter and Continue.
You will be able to see this income on Line 8 of your 1040. When you pay for TurboTax you will be able to view your forms.
